Grade 5 and 6: Charity Concert
Grade 5 and 6: Charity Concert
One and a half months ago, Ms. Luo and the parents from Fifth and Sixth Grade already had a meeting about the plan for the whole charity event. Then, under the proposal of the parents, a Volunteer WeChat group was set up quickly. All of the members brainstormed the possible approaches of the charity. Some suggested using internet to sell tickets for the charity concert; Ordering bracelet that had “I LOVE SHSID” on it to be students’ ticket rather than using normal ticket.
At the same time, the teachers led by Mr. Zhou, started to work. They elected hosts for the charity concert. Students created different kinds of colorful concert program cards. The teachers held Charity concert rehearsal, so every element of the charity was consisted of a teacher’s hard work. Ms. Luo also sent an experienced teacher Ms. Lu, who played an important role in the field.
Volunteers’ energy was huge.Brandon’s mom, Hoy’s mother and Richard’s mom spent several nights to have made internet links for selling tickets, and got a huge response. Of course, it built a solid foundation of raising money for this charity. We were particularly touched that many mothers volunteered: "Richard’s mom, you can call me any time when you need help." Volunteers helped makeup, photography, and layout. They all performed their jobs very well; especially Daniel’s mom guided the whole show of audience to stay in line at the entrance. In fact, many mothers did not know each other, and Richard’s mother even could not tell some volunteer mothers’ names; however, we all shared the same thought – to contribute to this charity concert.
Students contributed the most of course, especially ASB students led by Ms. Yao. They used their break time to sell tickets. Zhi-Ning designed a poster, Richard prepared posters in the charity and PPT for the Charity Concert, and Penny designed tickets for the Charity Concert ... ... the whole concert appeared wonderful, especially the last show of Bernard and Gaia singing “See You Again". They put the concert to a climax.
The charity concert gave us so much happiness, warmth and many pleasant surprises. Mothers, children and teachers, who volunteered for the charity, made the cold, rainy day a glimpse love.
