Grade 7: Storytelling Competition

On Thursday, November 12th, the 7th and 8th graders had their annual Storytelling Competition. Altogether the competition has three rounds. The first round was held in every single English class at seventh and eighth grades, where each student had to present a story. A winner from each class was selected, who then moved onto the second round of the competition. There, all selected students from all of the English classes went through another round of competition. At the end, the chosen ones of each grade were passed onto the third and final round of our Storytelling Competition, where the whole seventh and eighth grade students got to watch our storytelling winners presenting to us their stories.

The final round definitely went spectacular. The winners brought us a diverse mix of stories. Some of them were fantasies, others were crime and horror and comedy. A huge variety of stories came upon us, and it was all extremely fun listening to them coming from our fellow schoolmates. After each student from each grade finished their stories, their scores were shown on a big screen. Although they all had different scores, some better and some worse, no one could say that any of them had a story with more pleasure to listen to than the other. Each student told wonderful tales that were all extremely pleasurable to listen to.

At last, prize awarding and lucky draw brought the atmosphere to the climax. Prizes were handed out to the winners and several people were chosen in the lucky draws from 7(10) Joyce and 7(6) Yurie, the first place winners, and 7(9)Hunter, the most popular, or the one who had the most voters. Overall, the story telling competition was a rather enjoyable and welcome break from school and classes. Let’s all hope that next year’s competition will also go spectacularly, and let’s wait for it in anticipation!
