Grade 7: NASA Teacher Comes to Lecture

On Thursday, October 29th, 2015, a worker form National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) came to our school and gave a presentation to all 7th graders during the CAS class in the primary school auditorium. He introduced NASA to us and told us about some of their projects, like the ‘Curiosity.’ The ‘Curiosity’ is a rover NASA launched into Mars to investigate the Martian climate and geology. We all listened with amazement, and when we heard that it was successful, we were glad and proud to be earthlings. The teacher told us that after the ‘Curiosity’ was launched, a child came to him and said, “Teacher, now I know why I should be an astronaut.” At the beginning, we all thought the presenter would drone about space, NASA, and science, but then he showed us a music parody video of Gangnam Style – ‘NASA Johnson Style’. ‘NASA Johnson Style’ showed us most of the space centers and the workers of NASA. The hilarious video heated up the auditorium, making the students wonder more about NASA and the presenter’s presentation. Later on, he showed us an attention-grabbing video of NASA’s space camp and their activities, which made the students intrigued.

Finally, the presenter asked and answered questions, and gave interesting answers to the enthusiastic students. Unfortunately, because there was no time left, so many students left the auditorium with numerous thoughts and questions about NASA in their brains.

In conclusion, the teacher’s presentation was really fascinating and successful, and we all enjoyed it!
