Pudong Grade 1: Partner Reading

Readingindependently is an excellent opportunity for children to explore fictional or nonfictional realms never imaginedbefore.Readingwith a partner, however, has proven to be even more exciting for grade one students!

This past week, grade one classes were paired with upperclassmen from grade four for a special “Partner Reading” class. Grade one students were able to improve their vocabularies, practice phonetics, and show their confidence in reading by orally sharing some of their favorite Chinese and English stories with their older peers. Likewise, grade four students were able to introduce grade one students to new characters, plots, and lively illustrations from their own books.
