Grade11:Engineering & Math Activity

The Engineering Club and The F=ma Club were organized by the students of grade 11.The F=ma club has been working with the engineering club for the past two sessions, and has held two club meetings so far. The club is proceeding on its course as planned. The first club session involved planning. Since it is an academic club, I am not expecting enthusiastic club members, who will dutifully stay after school every week. Hence, the plan of the club was made by the club members to guarantee maximum commitment. On the first meeting, we had discussed various possibilities for the club, such as the building of a tesla coil, studying the phenomenon of black holes, lecturing on a course titled, “Survival 101”. We had finally settled on building a model cyclotron accelerator, followed by some lessons on quantum mechanics by our co-leader Victor Yu. The second meeting was originally planned for the building of a model accelerator. Unfortunately the order from Taobao has not arrived yet. However, we made some changes, and instead held a very interesting introductory lecture on quantum mechanics. The members attending the meeting learned about elementary particles and the significance of the rest energy formula. The cyclotron is to be assembled on the next Thursday meeting.
