Grade 10: European Culture Club

European Culture Club kicked off its first two sessions over the past two weeks, receiving tremendous popularity from enthusiastic club members, as even our most honored ASB President came to visit. In the first session, which took place on September 9th, the club hosted a Spanish tapas tasting during lunchtime in 119ZXB. The tasting activity was well-organized and all of the participants collaborated to clean up the room to leave a perfect studying environment for the next classes. The only regret was that the tasting party was so occupied that there wasn’t enough time to introduce the club objectives. The second session was held during lunchtime on September 16th. It was a formal introduction session for the club. We attempted to make it interactive and by asking the club members the correct pronunciation of tricky-looking Spanish words such as “arroz”, “paella”, “chicas”, “llamar”, and “religión”. This session was filmed and is currently being edited for presentation at the club fair (club promotional video). It was an explosive success; laughter could be heard from the corridors, and before we noticed it, the window panes were filled with the curious heads of students. Every club session will have a different theme, so that there are no redundant materials. The club members selected the theme for the next club session out of a multitude of options, and decided on ‘the role of European countries in WWII’. The next club session will be held on Wednesday, October 10th.
