SHSID U15 , U13 Football Tournament Report
SHSID U15 , U13 Football Tournament Report
The under 15 and under 13 boys soccer teams had their first tournament of the year on September 19th.
The under 15 boys team lost their first game of the tournament 4-0 to WISS but with little rest, were still able to win the following game and advance to the semi-finals to face YKPAO. They dominated the game and deserved to win, but luck was not on their side, as YKPAO scored on a shot that hit Fabio on the back and looped over Ling into the goal. In their final game, the team faced off against the hostsWellingtonin the 3rd/4th playoff game and won 1-0 on penalties to secure 3rd place.
As there was only one training session prior to the tournament, I feel that 3rd place was a good result. By working on communication and discipline in our positions, along with fitness, I believe that we can improve as a team and become champions in the near future.
The under 13 boys team showed that they have the ability to be one of the best teams in their age group. In the group stage, the boys finished with 2 wins and 1 loss. One of their victories came against the eventual champion of the tournament. The under 13 team made the semifinals and had an excellent performance in the game, but came up just short, losing 1 to 0.
The players are planning to work even harder and have an even better performance next tournament.
