G8: Charity Club---Just Desserts
G8: Charity Club---Just Desserts
After our hard work from last semester, Anna Kim 8(3), Irene Zhong 8(9), and myself, Teeya Lowe 8(4), along with former students Angela Sha and Minjoo Kim raised four thousand and one hundred yuan for the charity foundation,Teach for China. We raised the money by baking treats every week and selling them to fellow students and teachers from grade five to eight outside the Middle School Building every Monday. We started off with a small team only consisting of five people along with the generous help from the seventh and eighth grade director, Mr. Ni. However, we are now seeking for ways to expand our charity “business” by recruiting more members to raise additional money for the foundation. Last semester, we baked a wide variety of goods such as brownies, icing-cupcakes, chocolate-chip cookies, double-chocolate cookies, sugar cookies, etc. We also had a special day when we sold more than one-hundred chocolate covered marshmallows. Even Principle Liu bought a few! We also had a major mash-up day with everyone baking their own treats at home and bringing them to school to sell together the next day. There were many different things sold at once, which added to the fun! We hope to do so again in the future. This fundraising project turned out to be very successful. A special thanks to Mr. Ni and all of the students and teachers who bought our products. We will try our best again this year to bake the best treats for everyone to enjoy and to raise more money for charity! We will also try to bake larger quantities, yet still keep our high-standard qualities for more people!
