G7-8: 7th and 8th Graders met Alonzo Mourning

Basketball is a sport that almost everyone follows at our school. Many of the greatest players of all time worked hard to become masters at this game. It captures the interest and attention of anyone who tries it. The long hours required to become a better player seem like nothing when the exhilarating thrill of basketball flows into your veins. No one can deny this point, even if you put your entire life into the game, like the professional NBA player Alonzo Mourning.

Alonzo Mourning--the name seems to make us stare in awe. Seeing him in person was like seeing a god from heaven for the students at SHSID. On the ninth of September 2015, Mourning stepped onto the court of SHSID to give the hardworking students some inspiration and motivation to work even harder on their basketball skills. His speech was very powerful and strong, motivating everyone to become better and better at basketball. Several students also came up with interesting questions which Mourning answered, explaining what he thought about different topics. The audience all cheered with such excitement that the building echoed with thunderous applause. Later, the all-star basketball player gave tips to the students on how to practice shooting, dribbling, and footwork more effectively. The students thought it was a very rewarding experience that paved the way for the next generation of basketball stars and enthusiasts.
