Middle School Opening Ceremony---- the Start of a New Year
Middle School Opening Ceremony---- the Start of a New Year
So quick, so soon! Two months of our wonderful summer vacations have ended, and now we’re ready to start a whole new year-- some of us now as seventh graders, and others eighth. We have all finished a productive year, and are ready to start another one, making it even better than the last.
The Opening Ceremony was the official point marking the beginning of our new school year. Mr. Ni started the Ceremony with a speech welcoming all of us back to school. Then, Emily Jiang from class 7(1), talked to all of us, telling us of her experiences and knowledge learnt over the past year. Emily told us that, though tests are important, friendships are more valuable. Truer words were never spoken! Lelan from eighth grade also gave a speech, asking what’s most important. She told us that the most important thing is not school, but our passions. As long as we find our passions, she said, we have not only discovered a career path, but our purpose in life. Academics, yes, is indeed important, but not the most, as Emily and Lelan both pointed out.
Moving on, Mr. Ni and Mr. Liu gave more speeches: offering both praise and suggestions for the coming school year. Afterwards, they called out the names of outstanding students of the past year and gave them all awards: Great Studies awards, Good Studies awards, Rapid Progress awards, sports awards, and much, much more. Each student climbed up onto the stage with happiness and pride gleaming on their faces as they held their awards and got their pictures taken. After all, they all deserved what they got! Yet, at the same time, the students who received awards weren’t the only good ones; all the others worked hard, too. And, with the start of the Opening Ceremony, we begin a new school year. Let’s all use the encouragement and wisdom given from teachers and friends to become even better students!
