Opening Ceremony of Grades 9 -10

The Opening Ceremony of grades 9 and 10 for Shanghai High School International Division students was held at the Auditorium on the first of September 2015.

After presenting a video showing precious moments of the past year, Ms. Min Liu, director of grades 9-10, congratulated all of the students who received prizes in competitions like MUN (Model United Nations), debating, and WSC (World Scholar’s Cup). Ms. Liu emphasized the significance of setting goals to be carried out over the coming days, weeks, and months. The head teachers of grades 9 and 10 presented speeches recognizing the students’ ongoing efforts devoted to extracurricular activities, academics, and the completion of their four-year plans.

Student delegates, Audney Guo from grade 9 and Annie Fang from grade 10, presented their past achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. They suggested that students try hard to improve their grades, start their own clubs, and organize meaningful activities. Audney and Annie also encouraged students to avoid letting procrastination get in the way of achieving their goals. In an important and memorable moment, students were awarded for their achievements in academics, BQH, social activities, and sports.

At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Ma Feng, SHSID high school principal, raised three questions: “How do you get along well with your peers and the world around you?”, “How do you manage your studies?”, and “Why are you here to learn?” Students are expected to be well-mannered people who appreciate different cultures, make positive contributions to their communities, work toward future success, and form lasting relationships. The academy program and various club activities will help students develop their academic skills, personalities, and life-long interests.
