8th Grade Graduation Ceremony

June19thwas a special day because all the 8thgraders graduated. A ceremony was held to celebrate this day which marks the end of middle school. At 1:30 PM, the gym was filled with students and parents and everyone could feel the excitement in the air.

After Ms. Yan, head of year, announced the opening of ceremony, a thunder of applause and deafening cheers went up in the hall. Then Sophie made a speech on behalf of all the graduates. In her speech, she said that she has grown to be more confident and more independent over the past 3 years of middle school and then brought forth an idea to her fellow students: be radiant in high school. Next was a speech delivered by a parent representative, in which Daphne’s dad recalled his school days at SHS and extended his most sincere gratitude to all the teachers and staff at SHSID. And then Director Ni addressed the audience and asked the students to bear in mind teachers’ wishes and began a new stage of their life! The last speech was given by principal Liu who elaborated on the idea of the future and wished all the students the best of luck in future life.

What’s worth mentioning is the first awarding ceremony of 11 outstanding graduates of the middle school. These 11 students all exceled in both academic and extracurricular achievements. The awarding of the graduation diploma was surely the most exciting moment to all the parents and students. And then came the graduation video and graduation song chorus which symbolized the end of the ceremony. All the students gave each other a high five and wished each other all the best in high school!
