Seventh and Eighth Grade Ximen Primary School Donation

On June 10th, the ASB and student representatives from seventh and eighth grade visited Ximen Primary School in Chongming district to donate the Charity Fair fund. The donation included 30,000 RMB along with 2,000 RMB worth of material supplies. ASB had been contacting and scheduling this event for approximately one month. Through the means of the Shanghai Charity Foundation, the ASB had located Ximen Primary School. Thirty students who are suffering from poverty and low grade insurance will receive the money; thus, each receives 1,000 RMB.

Teachers from Ximen Primary School and representatives from SHSID shared amiable greetings upon their arrival. Then, the donation ceremony officially started. SHSID representatives were led to a hall where the thirty kids were sitting in a circle. The ceremony started with a lively game as the kids and our representatives got to know each other better. Through the means of a game, it was not hard to deduce that the financial dilemmas have not affected the children’s vitality and happiness. The donation followed after the game. The kids stood in two neat lines. They saluted when they received the envelopes which held the money. After all had received their share, the ASB representative delivered a short speech, explaining that this was a charity which every seventh and eighth grader in SHSID had participated. Then, one of the children and a teacher expressed their gratitude for SHSID.

Hopefully, the kids would find themselves in a more positive and optimistic situation after receiving the donation, and that in the future, they would spread this love and generosity to a larger scale.
