Grade 10: The “Spelltacular” Spelling Bee

On June 3rd, SHSID 9th and 10th grade had the Spelling Bee in the Auditorium. Over 20 contestants participated in the competition. They spelled out each letter on hearing the word read by the teacher. They might also be given the explanation or an example sentence.

After the first round of knockout game, several groups of students presented splendid performances during the interval: belly dance, Korean pop dance, hip-hop, glow stick show, and others. The climax came when the final round began. As the words got longer and more abstruse, the contestants met larger challenges. Sounds of applause came from the audience off and on to show their encouragement. In the end of the Spelling Bee, honorable prizes and trophies were awarded to 6 players, among which Vania Liu from 10(10) won the 3rd prize.
