The Girl Scouts Visit the Kindergarden

Upon the arrival of the long-expected "6.1" Children's Day, with the support and help from YouDao, our Girl Scout Troop from SHSID 6thgrade arrived at a kindergarten for immigration workers. We celebrated the holiday together.

Our Girl Scouts had been preparing a lot for that day. Everyone brought something special. We had two focuses in this activity.

The first focus was an introduction to musical arts. Oriana played the Pirates of Caribbean on piano. Together she and Olivia taught the kids to sing an English song called "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Kaye and Semmi played a duet between the violin and the cello. They let the kids explain the different sounds from the two instruments. Barbie played xylophone. She also brought a lot of percussion instruments hidden in boxes to let the kids feel, guess and try. At last, Oriana, Melody and Olivia danced the famous River Dance fromIreland. They taught the kids a simple rhythm by foot and used their foot work to play a game. These excellent performances and interactive games ignited enthusiasm among the kids. Everyone was excited.

The second focus was to introduce the western holiday of Easter to the kids. Connie was a great story teller. She made several cute balloon animals to assist her when telling the stories of Easter and Egg Hunting. Kids were all very interested. At the end of the activity, the kids all ran around to do a real egg hunt. We brought eggs with candies inside them to hide all over the place. Everyone was full of sweets.

The activity was a great success. Thanks to YouDao for your full support. Also thanks to the kindergarten teachers who offered such great opportunities for us. Both the big girls and the little kids had a lot of fun that day!
