7th Grade: “Just Desserts” Mini Bakery Club

“Just Desserts” Mini Bakery Club was established by 5 girls from 7thgrade in order to raise funds for the Charity Fair. They are Angela Sha, Minjoo Kim, Anna Kim, Teeya Luo and Irene Zhong. Mr. Ni and the teachers gave a lot of support to the club. Every Sunday (except examination week), the club members gathered together to bake delicious desserts, such as cookies, cakes and brownies. To ensure the food freshness and safety, they sold the desserts every Monday morning in the front of the Middle School building. Although they only have this club run for a semester, they have already raised RMB3000 for the Charity Fair. Only the 5 girls know how hard it is!

One time, two members could not join the club activity due to the WSC competition; the remaining three girls still decided to bake the desserts by themselves. At first, they only baked four plates of brownies, but they knew it could not raise enough funds. So they had to bake more. However, chocolate and cocoa powder was used up immediately and one member was even burned seriously. They were a bit upset. “What can we do?” They finally got a good idea after discussion: bake vanilla cakes. The first plate of cakes was not well done and the second plate of cakes was burned. But they didn’t give up. They continued for the third time and finally the cakes turned out to be just right. “Just Desserts” Mini Bakery Club has become very popular in SHSID now. I think they won’t succeed if they give it up easily when they had difficulties. They are the charity role model for all 7th grade students.
