SHSID NSDA News
SHSID NSDA News
SHSID sent out seven teams to attend the last NSDA round of the season in Shanghai. The teams mostly contained eighth graders through tenth graders since the seniors were busy with their AP exams. This round was the most heated and the hardest of all the other regions. Talented debaters gathered at No.2 High School Affiliated to East China Normal University from all over China. Teams reunited with old friends and also met new ones and now hoped that these friendships will last wherever we go in life. Debate is a battlefield and we were soldiers; nerves and doubts settled in everyone’s minds before the competitions. The rounds were stretched out over two days. The fiery sparks of debate shone bright from every single classroom and came to an end as the timers rang out. At the end of the day, the rankings came out, determining who would go on to the second day’s elimination rounds and the debates continued. After countless sleepless nights and waking up to debate contentions, our hard work and effort were repaid. At the end of the tournament, three teams made it into the octa-finals, one into the quarterfinals, and one into the semifinals. The debates were grueling and tiring but the prizes we sought were spiritual presents which we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. Never stop debating.
