World Scholars Cup Shanghai Regional Round Opening Ceremony

During April 25thand 26th, SHSID went through a phenomenal experience: hosting the World Scholars Cup Shanghai round! The World Scholars Cup, or WSC, is a competition where scholars from numerous schools compete against each other in different events. The hosts of WSC expected an orthodox opening ceremony, and they were proven right at first with the orchestra rolling onto the stage. However, that quickly changed. While the orchestra was performing, a group of girls dressed up as cheerleaders genuinely surprised the hosts. The cheerleaders, consisted of kids from all classes, and preformed amazingly well. After the cheerleaders was a Chinese singing performance by Sylvia from 8(9). The audience loved her performance and used their flashlights on their phones to wave as light sticks.

Finally, after the singing performance came the break dancing performance, which again brought by the girls from the initial cheerleaders dance, but with two additional boys. The two boys had their special parts where they got to break dance on their own, and they amazed the entire audience along with the hosts. After the performances were over, the hosts came back out, and talked to us more about WSC, along with getting everyone more involved. They talked about all sorts of things, from the spirit of WSC, to how amazing the opening ceremony was, and how it surprised them. They also talked about how this round at SHSID would leave them a very good impression, and talked about how great this school is. After the opening ceremony, everybody became extremely hyped about the competition, and it was in general a large success.
