Math Mini Market in Grade 1

The students of 1stgrade learned about American money in math class. In the Wednesday, April 15thmath class, the first grade teachers organized an interesting activity called Math Mini Market.

On that day, every 1stgrade class ran a special mini market with fake coins and commodities prepared by the 1stgraders. Every 1stgrader had prepared three commodities to sell in advance and everybody could buy each other’s commodities with the fake coins in the market. Every student worked very hard at picking his favorite things, counting the coins he needed to pay and figuring out the change he should receive.

This activity helped all the 1stgraders practice counting coins and making change in an interesting and creative way. Every student has benefited a lot from this mini market.
