8th Grade News Group

We may have exciting events and enticing activities that happen every year, but the year of 2014-2015 brought something new to eighth grade: service learnings. There is quite a handful of service learning clubs—such as the Environmental Club or the Assistant Coach—but perhaps one of the most significant and essential service learning groups is the News Group. In fact, this article you are currently reading is a product of this particular group!

Why exactly is the News Group a vital part of the service learning system? News Group includes a group of gifted writers who are capable of not only depicting recent school events, but are also capable of gathering information and conducting interviews. News provided by the club encompasses almost all aspects of our school life, ranging from the Charity Fair to the Sports Meeting—offered in both English and Chinese. The News Group, therefore, helps facilitate everyone’s understanding of the latest events of our grade.

The News Group publishes its articles in several ways. Perhaps the most well-known form of transmission and distribution is the newsletter that is sent home commonly along with report cards. Occasionally, excellent articles also show up on the school’s webpage where it is available for everyone to read. Surely, the majority of you have the school’s WeChat—and a large bulk of updates and articles posted there are also from the News Group.

As the eighth grade newspaper committee, the News Group service learning aspires to produce concise yet informative articles for everyone to enjoy.
