Sucessful Dr. Seuss Week in Grade 1

March 23, 2015

March 16th to 20th, the fourth week of the semester, was Dr. Seuss Week for the whole primary section at SHSID. There were many interesting activities and books for all of the first graders. Here were the big events for the week:

Monday, March 16th, every student made a funny hat which imitated the hat in Dr. Seuss’s famous book The Cat in Hat. It was also Mix-up Day. Every student wore mixed-up clothes for fun! Someone put his shorts out of his pants and someone else even wore pants on his head!

Tuesday was Hat Day. Every student either wore a beautiful or funny hat to school. Some hats were hand-made by parents and some hats were designed by the children.

Wednesday was Wacky Socks Day. Every student wore strange and funny socks. Everybody put feet into socks with all different colors and patterns and laughed a lot!

Thursday was Twin Day. There were so many twins and even triplets in every class! The students wore matching clothes with a friend to dress like twins. That was really fun to have so many twins in one class.

Friday is Character Day. Many students dressed up to imitate their favorite character from a Dr. Seuss book. Some dressed up like Thing 1 and Thing 2, some dressed up like the elephant Horton, some dressed up like Cindy, and some dressed up like the Cat in Hat.

Every child had a great time during this week, and what is more important is that every child read more good books and enjoyed reading!
