Grade 10: IB Info Session

On March 18, 2015, SHSID organized the IB information session in Square Hall for 10th grade parents and students. This information session, given by Ms. Hao Jiang and Mr. Jianjing Wu, attracted many attendants.

Ms. Hao Jiang, the experienced IB coordinator of SHSID, mainly stated the educational goals and qualifications requirement for IB students, including the abilities of reflection, risk-taking, communication, inquiry, and balance. Emphasizing on the education evaluation throughout the study process, the IB system requires students to explore the most efficient approach to improve themselves while being optimistic with possible challenges.

Mr. Jianjing Wu, a senior IB teacher, conveyed the general idea and sprit of Theory of Knowledge, one of the core courses of IB, with abundant sample cases. He restated that students needed to think critically to inspire themselves, and put themselves in others’ positions to gain the skills of cooperation and collaboration on the way to acquire knowledge.

Finally, the speakers and 10th grade homeroom teachers answered questions from parents and students, who were greatly intrigued. The provided information helped them to reach a more considered decision.
