8th Grade High School Course Lecture

On the 12th of March, all of the 8th grade students went to the Xianmian Annex Building for a lecture about the High School Course system. Before the lecture, all of the 8th grade students were given a High School Course Catalog.

Before the lecture began, Principal Ma showed us a video, which gave us a brief idea of what High School at SHSID was about. Afterwards, Principal Ma began a presentation about the SHSID High School Curriculum Map, a well-rounded curriculum which is ideal for SHSID students. The map showed the importance of every single subject, and also introduced a new course: Flex. Flex periods include the Study Hall Program and the SHSID Academy Programs.

The 8th grade students were then presented with a variety of choices during High School. In the Course Catalog, the students read the course elective form for 9th and 10th grade, and learned that they would have another 6 optional subjects, such as programming basics and economics. The students were impressed by the variety of the courses allowed, and felt reassured that the school could offer us a comprehensive and challenging curriculum for a fruitful year in 9th grade.

After listening, students began looking forward to their next year at SHSID. They began to feel proud of being a student at SHSID after being presented with the brilliant awards of previous students and, at the same time, realized the fact that 9th grade at SHSID will be a tough year.
