7th and 8th Grade Fire Drill
7th and 8th Grade Fire Drill
The 7th and 8th grade fire drill happened once again in the second semester. Even though many students think it’s boring and useless, it is important for us to refresh our memory every semester to ensure our safety if, by any chance, part of our school building catches on fire. Our teachers prepared a towel and a bottle of water for every student to share ahead of time. During the break period before CAS, our homeroom teachers instructed and demonstrated for us how to wet the towels and cover our mouths with it to protect us from the smoke in case a real emergency like this happened. Once the loud sounding alarm started, every student filed out of their classrooms and down the stairs. People walked down the building in order and nobody was hurt during the fire drill. As we get down the stairs and onto the first floor, we could see that fake smoke was created to mimic a real fire event. As the black smoke slowly rose to the sky, we covered our mouths completely and continued “escaping” onto the soccer field. We darted toward our class areas which our homeroom teachers had informed us about in advance. The whole class stood in single file groups, and then we were allowed to go back to our classroom. Then followed a second drill which was the same as the first one to make sure that us students were familiar with how to escape in case of a real emergency. Though maybe students didn’t think much of the fire drill, it is important to refresh our memory every semester to ensure our safety.
