Grade 8 Field Trip to Shanghai Museum of Glass

During the afternoon of January 8th, Grade 8 students went out on a field trip to the Shanghai Museum of Glass. After arriving the museum, we watched a demonstration about the process of making glass crafts. The craftsman first melted glass in a kiln, then manually enlarged the glass by blowing air bubbles into it. After putting the liquid glass into a mold, a simple glass craft was made. We were amazed at the sight and the speed of the transformation from plain liquid glass into a glass craft. After watching the show, we visited the main showroom and learned lots about the history of glass and appreciated modern glass crafts. We were impressed by them, and everyone had their camera out.

At last, we made our own DIY projects. We choose our projects based on interest, and after we made our designs briefly, we began creating their projects. The projects showed our creativity and our artistic sense.
