8th Grade Tutoring Service Learning Group
8th Grade Tutoring Service Learning Group
A new session of study room started with our new crew of students from the tutoring service learning group. Before study room officially started, our helpers were already waiting in room 413, anticipating helping those students who were confused. Many students arrived at the study room session, waiting to improve their understanding in Chinese, Math, and English. Daniel and Jason, two of the students who were responsible for helping students in the study session for this week were eager to help anyone who didn't understand something.
It wasn’t long before one of our volunteers, Daniel explained to a 7th grade student about an English vocabulary word that he wasn’t sure of. Our “tutor” was eager to explain the word fully to the student to make sure that he understood it properly. Unfortunately, this was the only student they helped since not everyone had trouble understanding the material.
Even though not a lot of people were available for the volunteers to help them, they were off to a great start on helping students improve their learning. It is sure that in the future, there will be a lot of problems from students that will need the tutors’ help. By having volunteers that can help them learn, it will further encourage students to study and understand fully what they are learning everyday.
