Pudong Campus G4:.D.E.A.R. Week

D.E.A.R is an abbreviation for “Drop Everything And Read”. “Drop Everything And Read” is a literacy initiative focused on building a better reading culture within the whole school. It is a form of “sustained silent reading” that encourages students to read for pleasure. Sustained silent reading has been shown to create an increased interest in reading among the students who participate.

During each school day of the D.E.A.R Week, a bell will ring throughout the school at a “random” time. When the bell rings, everybody——students, teachers and staff will stop what they are doing and start to read a book of their choices for 20 minutes.
