“Never give up your dream”——A speech given by Dr.Leory Chiao, a former NASA Astronaut

On September 15th, former NASA Astronaut Dr. Leory Chiao came to Shanghai High School to give a lecture for the students. Dr. Chiao completed four space missions, he is the first Chinese astronaut that completed space walking, also the first Chinese commander of the International Space Station. There were more than 100 students both from the local division and the international division attended the lecture. He spoke about “Never give up your dream”. He told the story of how he grew up and how he went through the tough selection process to be an astronaut. He told the students that his dream of being an astronaut was inspired by Neil Armstrong, who is the first people who stepped on the moon. At that time, his parents and friend thought he was joking about it, but eventually he achieved what he dreamed about. He also said that whatever your dream is, you have to work hard for it and never give up. After the lecture there was a Q&A, the students were enthusiastic. Some of the questions are about the knowledge of aeronautics and space, some of them are about how to pursue dreams and encourage yourself.
