Grade 3 PATH to Independence Program

September 13, 2014

Throughout the first semester, students in the 3rd grade will be learning about, and rewarded for demonstrating, the core values of the P.A.T.H. to Independence (Personal Responsible, Attitude, Teamwork, Help Others). PATH is an important part of our learning community at SHSID.Teachers will work with students to develop their understanding of positive character traits, which will help them in the 3rd grade and beyond! Students will be reminded of these positive traits and will be rewarded for helping and supporting their peers along the way.

Each time a student’s positive efforts are noticed, they will receive a check-mark from their homeroom teacher. When the student has received three check-marks for a particular character value/trait, they will be rewarded a paper car that is to be placed in the hallway for their school peers to see. Each paper car will have the student’s name and classroom number on it, and will be color coordinated to connect with one of the values/traits.

This is not a competition, but an opportunity for these students to better themselves as productive members of their school and home community. Students will be rewarded with their classmates when whole-grade objectives are met. You will see cars in four different colours riding on the PATH and heading towards success!
