G12:Lecture about College Application Essay

When filling out college application forms, students will be required to write one or two personal statements to show their characters or hobbies, which are not otherwise reflected on the form. Different colleges have different essay topics, but they are often quite similar to each other, focusing on the same theme. Students all have their own personalities and hobbies, dreams and pursuits. The majors that applicants plan to study might also be quite different. All the above aspects should be reflected in the personal statement.

Mr. Baren and Mr. Dittmer, the teachers from the writing center of SHSID, were invited to give a lecture about how to write college application essays for grade 12 students. During the lecture, they also interacted with the students. Services for modifying the essay is offered every lunch time at Writing Center, which is located in the library in the Xianmian Annex. Students may book a time slot on the appointments form with the teachers.
