Grade 11: Company Visit Day
On June 11th, 2024, SHSID Juniors embarked on an expedition into the depths of the job industry, learning under industry heads and experts from a diverse plethora of occupations. This included finance, computer science, biology, law, and much more. Students registered for one of the eleven options that best fit their aspirations, and were led by the school to the respective companies and institutions.
Each company prepared a variety of activities for students to gain a deep understanding of their respective industries. At the Shanghai Municipal Institute of Surveying and Mapping, students learned about the development history and job responsibilities in the field of surveying and mapping for the first time. At the Shanghai Supercomputing Center, students visited the computer room and witnessed the powerful allure and wide-ranging applications of supercomputing. At Intco, students witnessed the extensive use of recycled materials. Also, the automated production line and sophisticated factory management system at GE HealthCare left the students in awe.
The students who visited Ping An Insurance Company learned about the company's development history and how technology has assisted the insurance industry in their exhibition hall. At King & Wood Mallesons Law Firm, students watched a vlog titled "A Day in the Life of a Lawyer” and had the opportunity to communicate with a firm partner about career development. At Ctrip, students visited the online travel scenario data mining and intelligent design centre, where they learned about the company's development history and product layout. Yamaha Musical Instruments showcased the charm of combining artificial intelligence with music, greatly facilitating the use of remote teaching and singing accompaniment scenarios.
At the Bank of China, students had a firsthand experience of the operational processes of a bank branch, gaining an in-depth understanding of the functioning mechanisms of the financial industry. At Funtoy Games, students had the opportunity to deeply experience the company's culture during the on-site visit and even try out games developed by Funtoy. Students also visited the campus of New York University Shanghai, experiencing the beautiful environment and convenient facilities while immersing themselves in the unique atmosphere.
After engaging in tours, interactive activities, and opportunities to ask the leading members of various industries for their expertise, the Company Visit day ended productively and memorably, providing much-required assistance for students as they entered the strenuous phase of college applications.
We hope that one day they will find themselves leading operations that will bring remarkable achievements.
