Grades 9-10: House Program School Year Review
This school year, 48 outstanding teachers from different disciplines and specialties participated in House Program and have provided students with more opportunities in interest exploration and promoted a deeper understanding of different fields with their own growth experience, hobbies and professional choices, helping them to discover their strengths and fully enjoy high school life.
This year, the themes of each House are more diversified. There are the expansion of the mentor's subject area, overall planning and preparation for high school and the development of skills, such as academic writing, creative writing and second language, etc. The lunchtime activities are particularly exciting. Options include sports, ecological tours, relaxation sessions, book sharing, handicrafts, and lectures. Some jointly organized activities have attracted more students, such as economic-themed board games, traditional Chinese medicine , fun games.
The mentors provided opportunities for counseling for students, engaging in heart-to-heart conversations to offer professional learning advice in their respective fields. They carefully record each student's questions, tracking their growth paths. Many students viewed their mentors as trusted friends, sharing their campus life, which further promoted positive communication. Additionally, several students chose their mentors for as career interviewees.
During the career guidance courses, mentors prepare their lessons with great care, introducing their own academic experiences, professional choices, and cutting-edge knowledge in their respective fields. They assist students in reflecting on their strengths and personality traits, while also encouraging them to bravely learn from their mistakes. On Job Shadow Day, students are able to learn about the career development paths of different professions.
The mentors invite junior and senior students to share their growth experiences, course selections with their junior counterparts, hosting seminars or debate activities to promote peer communication. The mentors actively contact outstanding alumni studying or working in abroad to share their experiences of college life, job, high school life, and personal growth, thus helping students enhance their self-confidence and motivation.
With the professional guidance of mentors, many students have learned more about the excellent resources provided by school. The mentors have selected recommended books and learning resources to help students achieve professional development. With the help of mentors, some students have stood out in extracurricular activities, clubs and competitions, winning outstanding awards.
According to the positive feedback and suggestions collected from the questionnaire, we will hold more activities that meet the diverse interests of students in future project activities, promoting their individual development and achieving self-improvement through continuous exploration.
