Case Study of Web Crawler in Grade 9 Computer Class

In the computer class of Grade 9, a student-led case study and discussion was conducted on the learning of Python web crawlers at the end of this semester. A Python web crawler is a program or script that automatically crawls information from the World Wide Web according to certain rules. One of the best ways to learn this part of the content is for students to collect information themselves, study in depth for a specific application scenario, and learn specific applications. Then through communication and discussion, students can further develop a deeper understanding of the application of web crawlers through sharing cases among different groups.


In the discussion session of this case study, one group shared information about different topics of speeches on a website by crawling it; another group crawled recipe information about different cuisines in different countries on a website. Students crawled information about different topics based on their areas of interest. The atmosphere of this exchange and sharing session was warm, and everyone gained a lot.
