Grade 6-8 | Opening Ceremony of 2024 School Year First Semester

On September 2, with the ringing of the bell in the Hsi Building, SHSID Puxi Campus G6-8 ushered in the opening ceremony of the first semester of the 2024 school year, in which all the teachers and students gathered to witness this important moment and to start the journey of the new semester.


The ceremony was officially kicked off with an introduction by Ms. Wu Wenyi, Supervisor of Grade 6. First of all, the outstanding students' representatives spoke. Timmy from 6-4 talked deeply about the importance of time management for students. Based on his own learning experience, Timmy suggested that we could prioritize tasks, allocate time for different activities, make full use of the schedule prepared by teachers, and create a constructive learning environment. Chloe from 7-3, took the improvement of her Math scores as an example to introduce his many gains in Math learning. Cathy from Class 8-2 talked about how she has benefited from the wide range of extra-curricular activities offered by the school, such as participating in math competitions that challenge her thinking, soccer and basketball matches that improve her teamwork abilities.


After the student representatives finished their speeches, Mr. Shen Tianyuan, Vice Principal and Director of Grade 6-8 of SHSID Middle and Primary School, delivered an enthusiastic opening message. Mr. Shen took “safety” as the first core value and hoped that everyone would always be aware of safety protocol in the new learning environment. At the same time, he gave the core words “valuable learning” to the students and encouraged them to think about how to be an excellent, independent learner. Mr. Liu Lian, Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School, inspired every teacher and student present to continuously pursue excellence. Principal Liu advises students to integrate reading into daily learning, strengthen their physical fitness through exercise, and maintain the courage to explore the unknown. In the newly created teaching space in Hsi Building, students should devote themselves to the learning and life of the new semester with full enthusiasm and firm beliefs, and grow into comprehensive, independent, and excellent learners.



The ceremony set up a special commendation link. Principal Liu Lian awarded the last semester's 9 outstanding star classes. Then Mr. Seevers，Mr. Wendell, Mr. Laverrier, group leader of the foreign teachers, and Supervisors of G6-8, Ms. Wu Wenyi, Ms. Shen Ying and Ms. Cheng Liyan, presented awards to the students who won the “Exemplary Attitude Award”, the “Active Participation and Service Award” and the “Scholastic Achievement Award”. Principal Mr. Liu, Vice Principal Mr. Shen and Assisstant Principal of Engljsh Curriculum Mr. Key presented awards to the students who received the “All-round Achievement Award”. At the same time, the big screen showed the list of students who won the “Outstanding Progress Award”, “Sports Spirit Award” and “Artistic Excellent Award”.


Finally, Principal Mr. Liu once again encouraged all the students to take the award-winning students as an example, to work together, to be more enthusiastic and determined to move towards a more brilliant future, and to create a new, exciting chapter together.
