Grade 10 New School Year Parents Meeting: Plan Together and Stay Informed
On the evening of September 11, the Grade 10 Parents Meeting was successfully held in the Xianmian Auditorium. The meeting aimed at helping parents gain a deeper understanding of the curriculum for Grade 10 and beyond and explore the growth and development of their children in the coming stages.
The meeting was conducted in two segments. The first segment, hosted by Ms. Wu Chen, kicked off with a presentation of a video clip showcasing the exciting campus activities from the previous school year. Ms. Wu warmly welcomed all the parents and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for their support and trust.
Ms. Jiang Hao, the IB and AP Coordinator, provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s curriculum framework. Parents learned about the diverse courses available, each with its own distinct features. Ms. Jiang underscored the importance of selecting courses that align with students’ interests, strength, and future aspirations to ensure they make suitable choices.
Next, Ms. Cui Mengdi from the College Counseling Office shared insightful information on the applications of the Class of 2024. She introduced the array of college guidance resources and the streamlined platforms the school offers. Ms. Cui also provided valuable strategies for getting well prepared for future applications and reassured parents that the school will make every effort to provide personalized guidance to help each student thrive.
Mr. Adam Nikolich then presented a list of creative and practical courses available to high school students. These student-centered programs are designed to foster deeper self-exploration and a richer understanding of the world. By engaging in these courses, students not only enhance their academic skills but also cultivate innovative thinking and hands-on abilities, equipping them with the tools for both academic and personal success.
Lastly, High School Principal Ma Feng addressed the audience, providing a comprehensive update on the school's progress in infrastructure, curriculum development, and learning resources. He restated the school's educational philosophy and highlighted some recent summer academic and cultural exchange programs. Principal Ma also updated parents on some alumni achievements and trends in college admissions, providing them with a clearer picture of the evolving higher education landscape.
In the second segment, parents were guided by volunteers to their chosen subject-specific classrooms, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the diverse and enriching courses available. The teachers provided thorough explanations and answered parents' questions regarding course difficulties, selection strategies, and available resources. They offered tailored advice based on students' individual needs, to help parents better support their children's academic growth.
The meeting’s success marked a significant enhancement in the partnership between parents and school. Parents left with a deeper appreciation of the school’s educational approach, curriculum offerings, and college applications support, and bolstered their confidence in their children’s future growth and development. Shanghai High School International Division is committed to continuing this collaborative effort, ensuring a vibrant and promising future for every student.
