September 9, 2024

On the evening of September 5, SHSID hosted a successful Parents Meeting for the 11th-grade students, officially kicking off a new school year full of hope and challenges. This meeting not only strengthened the partnership between the students’ families and the school but also set the stage for students' academic journey ahead.

As the campus quieted down for the night, the auditorium of Xianmian Building remained brightly lit, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Enthusiastic student volunteers guided parents to their seats, where they watched a video showcasing highlights from the past school year. Ms. Yu Zhen then took the stage to announce the start of the Parents Meeting.

High School Vice Principal Zhang Li was the first to speak, offering a comprehensive overview of the school’s college admissions process. She explained the roles of various teachers and how they support students, outlining the steps and milestones in the university application process. Her presentation helped address common concerns, giving parents a clearer understanding of what to expect in the months ahead.

Mr. Adam Nikolich took the stage next. He explained the school’s English teaching philosophy for upper grades, emphasizing that the goal is not just to master content but to develop strong communication and language skills. He also stressed the importance of good learning habits, assuring parents that with the combined support of teachers and families, students will thrive at SHSID.

High School Principal Ma Feng wrapped up the main presentations. He provided updates on the school’s new facilities and reviewed key events from the past year. He also discussed university admissions trends, helping parents understand the application landscape. Principal Ma encouraged students to maintain a healthy mindset and strong physical well-being, emphasizing the school's commitment to helping them become confident, disciplined, and independent young citizens.

After the presentations, parents moved to individual classrooms to meet with students' homeroom teachers. The teachers provided detailed overviews of the 11th-grade academic program, focusing on college planning tailored to each student's needs. They also addressed various questions, providing thoughtful guidance that helped clarify doubts of parents.

As the meeting came to a close, the students’ 11th-grade journey officially began. This meeting deepened the collaboration between the parents and the school while also infusing the students' upcoming journey of hard work with motivation and hope. With strong support from both sides, every 11th grader is poised for growth, exploration, and achievement this year. Let us look forward to witnessing their incredible progress in the months to come!
