Grade 12 Assembly: Have A Good Night's Sleep

September 18, 2024

On Friday morning, September 13, psychology teacher Ms. Su provided a lecture to the 12th-grade students stressing the importance of sleep.

Her lecture began by introducing several facts about sleep. In order to make the presentation more engaging, each student was handed a worksheet regarding sleep IQ. Ms. Su led the students through a list of “True or False” questions about sleep health facts. She further warned of the wide array of detrimental effects of sleep deprivation. The Xianmian Building auditorium buzzed as the seniors expressed surprise and wonder at the diverse range of information about sleep.

Ms. Su then proceeded to provide a comprehensive list of things the seniors should do to ensure a good night’s sleep. This included trying to get some physical activity during the day, avoiding taking naps after school, and refraining from using their phones before going to bed. The lecture came to a close with a final activity that allowed the students to reflect on their own sleep schedules: they were asked to calculate the average amount of sleep they get, and to further plan a target bedtime in order to get the required 8 to 10 hours of sleep.

With Ms. Su’s lecture on sleep, the students will be able to consider the importance of sleep throughout their senior year and maintain a healthy sleep schedule. Later, classes will continue to enhance sleep health education during PB time, striving for a healthier campus life.
