Grade 9: Freshmen Chinese Debate Competition Final Round Held
On the noon of September 25, the 9th-Grade Chinese Debate Competition welcomed its exciting final round. The topic was: Does MBTI enhance the self-awareness of young people?
9-6 was the Pro team; its members included Arianna Tang, Rachael Yang, Alex Chen, and Richard Song. In the Con team, there were Hank Yu, Joyce Han, and Sawanobori Koto from 9-7. Both teams, having performed excellently in the preliminaries, were poised for an intense exchange to attain the championship title.
As the countdown timer began, the air grew heavy with tension. The audience leaned in, entranced by the eloquent diction of the speakers, each delivering clear, logical, and profound arguments: defining "self-awareness" as the evaluation of one’s mind, emotions, behaviors, and abilities. They engaged in a multi-faceted argument over the reliability and unreliability of the MBTI, eventually extending their arguments to the elevation and stagnation of young people's thoughts, setting the stage for a brilliant and elating debate.
In the cross-examination phase, the debaters demonstrated justified and firm insight, logic, and verbal expression, delving deeper into "self-awareness". The debaters spurred interaction and communication among team members, reflecting the significance of teamwork: Where there is cooperation, there is victory; where there is collective wisdom, there is accomplishment.
In the final phase of the competition, speakers from both teams provided concise summaries that reinforced and elaborated on their respective viewpoints, distilling the core arguments presented and marking the end of the debate.
Following this, the judges offered their evaluations, commending the participants for their performance and identifying areas for improvement. This exciting event concluded with an awarding ceremony: Sawanobori Koto from class 9-7 was crowned "Best Speaker". Congratulations to 9-7 for winning the championship, and 9-6 for earning the runner-up position!
