Puxi Campus G1-3 | 2024 Sports Meet: Chasing Dreams with Joy, Striving Forward Together
On the morning of October 8, with each class neatly lined up, the opening ceremony of the Shanghai High School International Division Grade 1-3 Sports Meet officially began. The students, dressed in their brand-new sportswear, stood straight and full of anticipation, ready to embrace this event filled with challenges and laughter.
First, Miranda, a student representative from Class 6 of 3rd grade, gave a wonderful speech. With the theme of "Sports — The Journey of Growth," she passionately shared how she overcame difficulties and
during her swimming training, gaining valuable growth along the way. Following that, Ms. Zhang Yi, Director of SHSID Puxi Campus Grade 1-3, expressed heartfelt thanks to the students, teachers, and parents for their hard work in preparing for this event. She encouraged the students to create unforgettable memories through sports, learn teamwork, and face challenges head-on.
After these inspiring speeches, all the students performed a well-rehearsed cheerleading routine. Through their hard work and practice, they danced with spirit and energy, filling the field with vibrant movements and joyous expressions. The students' synchronized steps and lively performance were a testament to their determination and team spirit, setting the tone for the exciting events ahead. Finally, Mr. Liu Lian, Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School, solemnly declared, "Let the Sports Meet begin!"
As the whistle blew, the sports field instantly became lively, filled with cheers and laughter. The students enthusiastically participated in a variety of exciting events, showing boundless energy and enthusiasm. In the Obstacle Relay, the children darted skillfully, racing towards the finish line; in the Water Relay, they carefully balanced the water, racing against the clock; and in the Penguin Run, they waddled forward with watermelons between their knees, their awkward steps sparking bursts of laughter. Each rotating event was full of fun and challenge, with the students thoroughly enjoying the games.
Additionally, the tense atmosphere of the 50-Meter Sprint held everyone’s breath, while the synchronized coordination and humorous moves in the Caterpillar Dash earned rounds of applause. The teamwork displayed in the Rollercoaster game left a lasting impression, and the Beanbag Throw tested the students’ precision and patience. The challenge events were equally engaging: Around the World required hand-eye coordination, Twister Race demanded strong teamwork, and the Number Castle activity challenged both wit and strength, bringing immense joy to the students.
The success of the Sports Meet not only showcased the students' fighting spirit but also highlighted the power of teamwork and collaboration. Whether it was the determination displayed during the events or the seamless cooperation filled with laughter, the children truly embodied the spirit of sports — strengthening their bodies, sharpening their minds, and enjoying the journey.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the PE teachers and homeroom teachers for their meticulous planning and organization, ensuring that every child enjoyed the joy of sports. We are also grateful to the parent volunteers from each class who helped manage the students and maintain discipline, as well as capturing precious moments with their cameras. The referee volunteers came to school early, attending preparation meetings and assisting with refereeing duties according to the sports department’s arrangements.
Though the Sports Meet has come to an end, the children's passion and love for sports continue to burn bright. We hope that in their future studies and lives, they will carry forward the spirit of sports, bravely chase their dreams, and grow up healthy and strong.
