History and Geography Department: Get Your Hands Moving

October 17, 2024

On October 16 at lunchtime, Mr. Kieran Nelson organized a fun French Revolution tricolor cockade making activity. Students came to room 214 in the Zhongxing Building to volunteer for the tricolor cockade making.

The cockade of France was born at the beginning of the French Revolution and was obtained by circularly pleating a blue, white and red ribbon. Two days before the fall of the Bastille, revolutionaries met to use the blue, white, and red cockade as a symbol of the protestors, symbolizing the spirit of liberty, equality, and fraternity advocated by the French Revolution, and it has since been used as a national ornament of France.

Under the guidance of Mr. Nelson, the students threaded the needle and completed several cockades. In a relaxed atmosphere, many students came to experience the charm of handmade history. 10th graders have officially started the learning journey of the French Revolution this month, and this activity can be regarded as a warm-up, which would also be helpful to inspire students and create some suspense for future lessons.
