The Freshmen Debate Competition between SHS and SHSID Held
In today's rapidly advancing technological era, artificial intelligence (AI) has gradually permeated every aspect of our lives. The question of whether to set a lifespan for AI robots that possess independent consciousness has emerged as a highly debated issue in technology ethics. At noon on October 15, debaters from both SHS and SHSID held a friendly debate competition in the lecture hall of Zhentao Building, where they fiercely debated the topic of "Whether AI robots with independent consciousness should be given a lifespan."
Both sides engaged in intense clashes of wisdom and ethics during the debate, discussing the life rights of AI robots with independent consciousness, ethical morality, and whether such robots can propel technological development. The proponents and opponents provided robust support for their respective viewpoints by citing actual cases, data analysis, and logical reasoning.
The climax of the debate arrived when both sides fiercely contested the angle of "lifespan restrictions for AI robots with independent consciousness." The proponents argued that AI robots with independent consciousness should be given a lifespan range, rather than a fixed endpoint, allowing for planning within this range. In contrast, the opponents advocated for allowing AI robots with independent consciousness to develop freely.
In the end, after deliberation by the student judges, the fourth debater from SHS, and the second debater from SHSID, were awarded the title of Best Debaters for this debate competition and the competition came to a successful end.
