2024 Coming of Age Ceremony
At eighteen, we stand at the starting line of adulthood, carrying dreams and filled with endless anticipation for the future.
At eighteen, we are about to bid farewell to our campus, stepping into a broader world, ready to embrace a new chapter of life.
At eighteen, we bravely forge ahead on the path of pursuing dreams, undaunted by the wind and rain, driven by the unwavering belief in our hearts.
From May 27th to 28th, 2024, the 12th-grade students of Shanghai High School International Division gathered at Shanghai Bay National Forest Park to celebrate a coming-of-age ceremony. This two-day event witnessed the growth and transformation of the students, writing an unforgettable chapter in the ending moments of their youth.
On the morning of the first day, students departed from school and arrived at the beautiful Shanghai Bay National Forest Park. After arranging dormitory assignments and setting down their luggage, everyone enjoyed lunch together. Afterwards, students headed to a field to participate in the opening ceremony. Teachers introduced students to the event agenda during the ceremony and officially launched the activities. Next, students embarked on an orienteering race, consisting of five tasks that needed to be completed. Amid laughter and joy, the students participated in amusement park games and gave their best effort in contests like the frisbee competition. After the orienteering race, students reached the finish line and enjoyed a unique barbecue dinner. A few grills were also placed for students to experience cooking themselves. Together with the sunset, students savored the delicious food and camaraderie. In the evening, students showcased their talents during the talent show, performing enthusiastically, with the entire night brimming with youthful energy and passion.
On the morning of the second day, the most significant coming-of-age ceremony officially began. High School Principal Ma Feng, Director Liu Qin, 12th-grade teachers, and parent representatives jointly witnessed this sacred moment. First, Principal Ma delivered an inspiring speech, followed by speeches from parent representatives, expressing their earnest hopes and blessings for the students. Subsequently, Director Liu gave a touching speech, emphasizing the importance of the coming-of-age ceremony. Finally, 12th-grade coordinator Hong Miao and ten homeroom teachers extended sincere blessings, wishing the students courage and success on their future paths.
After the coming-of-age ceremony, each class participated in dragon boat racing and collective painting activities. Through laughter and sweat, students collaborated and demonstrated the strength and passion of youth. The two-day event was brief but filled with meaning and memories. After the event, students expressed that the coming-of-age ceremony was not just an unforgettable high school memory but also a special gift in their lives. Everyone was ready to set sail, engraving gratitude in the passage of time, practising their vows with effort, and embracing every challenge of adulthood.
Year after year, in the trajectory of time, there are always those who are in their youth; day after day, in the reflection of brilliance, there is always a generation turning eighteen. Youth asks no questions about the East or West, and time naturally blossoms into elegance. The coming-of-age ceremony is not only a declaration of adulthood but also a ceremony of shouldering greater responsibilities. We believe students will use the rationality and steadfastness of adults to navigate the future journey and write their magnificent chapters.
