Puxi Campus G1-3: Fire Drill

October 24, 2024

October 23, SHSID Puxi Campus Grade 1 to 3 conducted its regular fire drill. This exercise is part of safety education, aimed at enhancing the safety awareness and knowledge of teachers and students through routine drills each semester, and strengthening their ability to respond to emergencies such as fires through hands-on practice.

Before the drill, during the personal growth class, teachers explained the importance of regular fire drills and either introduced or reviewed the correct self-rescue knowledge to be used during a fire, such as not panicking upon hearing the alarm, evacuating quickly and quietly, not going to cubbies or similar places to retrieve items, and not pushing each other or stopping to tie shoelaces during the escape.

As the alarm suddenly rang out and smoke from the drill filled the building, all teachers and students responded swiftly, evacuating from different exits of the teaching building to the safety zones according to the pre-established escape routes. Throughout the process, everyone strictly adhered to the escape technique of "bending low and covering mouth and nose." Under the guidance of their homeroom teachers, students from each class quickly assembled in the designated safety areas and quietly lined up to wait for the teachers to count and report the number of students present.

This exercise marked the first escape drill for the first graders in their new campus. They listened attentively, imitated carefully, and assembled quickly, demonstrating excellent performance. Through this drill, they became familiar with the location of the escape maps for each classroom, understood the outdoor assembly points for their class during an escape, and learned the importance of respecting life and taking escape drills seriously.

After the drill, Ms. Zhang Yi, Director of SHSID Puxi Campus Grade1-3, reflected and summarized the performance of the teachers and students during the exercise. Under the guidance of their homeroom teachers, students reflected on the performance of their classes and themselves, and actively provided suggestions for improvements for the next escape drill.

Safety is paramount, and the Grade 1-3 at SHSID Puxi Campus will continue to focus on and strengthen campus safety management and create a safe and orderly learning and growth environment for the children.
