The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Ceremony and Sharing Session Successfully Held

On October 24, 2024, Shanghai High School International Division held the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Ceremony and Sharing Session in the annex auditorium of Xianmian Building. This event was not only a recognition of all the award-winning students over the past period but also a new round of mobilization and publicity for future participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.




The event was hosted by the Assistant Principal and Director of the Student Center, Ms. Liu Qin. High School Principal Mr. Ma Feng and Vice Principal Ms. Liu Min attended the award ceremony and presented certificates and badges to 16 outstanding students who received the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Among them, 9 students received the Bronze Award, 3 students received the Silver Award, and 4 students received the Gold Award, which is the first time in the history of the SHSID that students have received the Gold Award.


Subsequently, Ms. Xu introduced the specific content and philosophy of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. She mentioned that the Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an international award aimed at cultivating the comprehensive abilities of young people. By participating in four aspects of activities, including voluntary service, skills, physical recreation, and adventurous journey, it helps young people to improve themselves and serve society.





After the award ceremony and introduction session, all the award-winning students stood on stage to share their experiences and insights with everyone. They talked about the challenges and gains they encountered in the process of participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, as well as how to overcome difficulties and achieve goals in teamwork. During the Q&A session, students in the audience actively raised their hands to ask questions and seek advice from the award-winning students on the specific details and strategies for dealing with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The award-winning students also vividly described their unforgettable experiences of adventurous journey, showcasing the process of learning and growing during the adventure.


The award-winning students concluded that the Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a great opportunity to exercise perseverance and independence. By participating in this program, they learned how to face difficulties, persevere, and also enhanced their self-awareness and teamwork skills. They encourage more students to try this program to experience the fun and gains involved.
