Volunteer Training Held for the Astronomy Exhibition

November 1, 2024

Universe, the ultimate romantic place for physicists, is still an unexplored unknown territory for humans to this day. Shanghai High School International Division will team up with the Australian National University to hold the "Southern Hemisphere Astronomy Exhibition" at Shanghai High School Gallery on November 9. The exhibition, themed on the vast universe, will showcase the beauty of the universe that humans have detected so far through a series of selected cosmic photos.

In order to ensure the smooth operation of the exhibition, students from Shanghai High School International Division actively responded to the call and signed up as volunteers to introduce the photos and maintain order for the event. In order to improve professionalism and presentation skills of the volunteers, the president of the astronomy club, Ding, organized a volunteer training on October 30 at noon.

At the training, Ding introduced each cosmic photo that would be displayed in detail. He not only shared the moving stories behind each photo, but also provided in-depth explanations of the related physics and astronomy knowledge. In the field of astronomy, physics principles are widely used to explain various astronomical phenomena and the properties of celestial bodies. Astronomers use the theories and methods of physics to deeply explore key issues such as the evolution of stars, the formation of planetary systems, and the origin of the universe. In addition, Ding prepared a training manual for the exhibition and distributed it to every volunteer to ensure that everyone had a thorough understanding of the scientific principles behind the photos.

Under Ding's careful guidance, the volunteers' understanding of astronomy was deepened, and their presentation skills improved. At this moment, the volunteers are ready to go and look forward to unveiling the mysteries of the universe on the exhibition day and leading visitors to appreciate the magnificence of nebulae. It is believed that the upcoming astronomy exhibition will not only be a visual feast, but also a journey of scientific exploration. It will also stimulate the students’ interest in physics and improve their ability to apply more physics knowledge to explain the world.
