Middle School Chinese Department | King of Comedy, Full of Joy—G7 Chinese Stand-Up Comedy Competition
On a sunny afternoon, G7 students from SHSID gathered for the much-anticipated “King of Comedy”stand-up competition. Following an enthusiastic opening video, Leo from Class 7-10 and Daniel from Class 7-11 kicked off the event with their witty and humorous introduction, quickly igniting the atmosphere with their clever remarks and lively performances, earning warm applause and laughter from their peers.
The first to take the stage was Shereen from Class 7-6. She used vivid language and witty humor to tell a story about catching up on homework. Shereen’s animated description of her last-minute rush to complete assignments resonated with the audience, drawing nods of recognition and bursts of laughter. Her performance not only highlighted a common student experience but also showcased her keen observation and sense of humor.
Next up were Angelina and Jolin from Class 7-2, who brought a story about milk tea. With perfect synergy, they presented a dialogue on ordering milk tea, detailing its varieties, preparation process, and modern-day passion for it. Their performance not only educated the audience about milk tea but also conveyed their enthusiasm and creativity in a light-hearted and engaging manner.
Kosho from Class 7-1 then entertained everyone with a talk on interesting Japanese customs. Using fluent Chinese and expressive gestures, he introduced traditional Japanese etiquette and cultural nuances, such as bowing and interjections. Kosho’s presentation was both entertaining and informative, broadening the students’ horizons through laughter.
Susan from Class 7-5 humorously shared her outlook on the future. She adeptly turned this serious topic into a light-hearted and engaging conversation, expressing her hopes and expectations in a witty and humorous manner, eliciting continuous laughter from the audience. Her performance showcased her linguistic talent and highlighted her positive attitude towards life.
Next on stage was Alex from class 7-4, who, using the violin as a medium, brought the entire audience to a climax with a humorous performance. Alex skillfully blended music and humor, using melodies to narrate vivid stories, leaving the audience in stitches and earning continuous applause.
The highlight of the show undoubtedly belonged to Cathy and Claire from class 7-2, who humorously narrated the quirks of Introverts (I) and Extraverts (E) in daily life through the MBTI test. Their vivid examples and witty dialogue allowed the audience to deeply feel the interesting collisions brought about by personality differences, further enhancing everyone's understanding of their own and others' personality traits.
Following the students' splendid performances, Ms. Chen Fan, head of SHSID Middle School Chinese Department, and Mr. Shen Tianyuan, Vice Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School, provided insightful feedback. Ms.Chen praised the students for their creativity and performance, encouraging everyone to reflect on the beauty of life through small things and to find joy in learning. Mr.Shen emphasized the importance of joyful learning and life from an educational perspective, encouraging students to find pleasure in studying and cultivate independent learning habits. Finally, Ms.Cheng Liyan, Grade 7 Supervisor, together with Ms. Chen and Mr. Shen, took photos with the award-winning students and presented the prizes. The list of winners is as follows:
First Prize: 7-2 Cathy, Claire
Second Prize: 7-2 Kosho, 7-2 Angelina, Jolin
Third Prize: 7-6 Shereen, 7-5 Susan, 7-4 Alex
