Social Sciences Department: More Mental Health Activities Staged by the Psychology Teachers
This semester, in addition to daily teaching, the psychology teachers of the Social Sciences Department used their expertise and understanding of students' needs to stage a series of unique mental health activities in Zhongxing Building and Xianmian Building to help students better understand themselves and improve their mental health.
In October, a lecture was held in the auditorium of Xianmian Building. The film Inside Out was used to induce students to think deeply about the problem of anxiety in adolescence, and the psychology teacher took the opportunity to analyze the causes of anxiety and coping strategies in detail, and introduced practical "STOP" skill to guide students to pay more attention to the present and not be bothered too much by the uncertainty of the future. In addition, the psychology teachers also held sleep management lectures to help students better manage their sleep and improve their learning efficiency.
Some of the newly renovated classrooms in Xianmian Building have also become a special space for students to relax their minds this semester. The Wellness Room on the third floor is open at noon and attracts students to participate in their favorite crafts or relaxation activities. At the same time, the psychology teachers have also established a one-on-one talk mechanism for the students, where they can have a professional to listen to their problems when they need it, and provide them with personalized guidance and advice.
The Social Sciences Department hopes to make good use of psychology to continuously enhance the communication and understanding of mental health topics between teachers and students, and keeps furthering mental health education for the students.
