G10 | Assembly: How to Speak
On May 23, the Grade 10 students gathered in the ZTB Lecture Hall for another assembly of the week.
Ms. Yu first reminded students that the CAS classes next Wednesday are scheduled for Career Day activities, where parents will be invited to introduce their careers to them. Thus the students also need to select the career lectures that he or she is interested in before Friday.
Having introduced the various activities of the week, Dijun from 10(5) was invited to share his experience in teaching kids English at the Hongmei Primary School. In a humorous tone, he step-by-step taught the tenth-graders “how to speak”, and elucidated his point that the point of impromptu speeches is not to worry this and worry that, but to simply speak out. Even if you are unconfident about what you are saying or even blunder, as long as you continue to speak what you are thinking and maintain the fluidity, it won’t be too bad. From week after week of English tutoring, Dijun gains confidence and the sense of meaningfulness in inspiring young kids’ interest for English. He gradually became able to piece out a coherent speech from a PPT he had never seen before and teach the information on the PPT to the pupils. After listening to Dijun’s experience, the audiences also developed confidence in their respective abilities they want to develop and courage to step out of the comfort zone.
