Sharing Session on IB CAS Education Held

On the afternoon of November 18, the homeroom teachers of Grades 9-12 gathered in the Theater of Zhongxing Building to start a sharing session on IB CAS education.



First, IB Coordinator Ms. Jiang Hao briefly introduced the background of the IB CAS program and the overview of CAS practice in SHSID high school. Next, two Grade 11 homeroom teachers shared what they had learned from a recent IB CAS workshop held in Beijing. From the perspectives of beliefs and ideals, practices and solutions, Ms. Gao and Ms. He introduced the curriculum concepts, theoretical guiding principles and official guidance emphasized by the IBO respectively. Combined with the actual situation of their classes and the content of the training, they summarized the common problems in CAS practice and how instructors should help students to further improve the quality of CAS activities, and looked forward to the future development of CAS education. 




Next, four Grade 12 homeroom teachers took the stage one by one and introduced their experiences in guiding students through the CAS program. Ms. Zhou shared how to plan the overall timeline and how each homeroom teacher can work as a team to improve efficiency. Ms. Chen shared how to use Managebac to help students organize and complete their CAS activities on time. Mr. Li and Mr. Zhao then introduced specific cases and shared their valuable experiences in guiding students in CAS education. Finally, Director of Students' Center of High School Ms. Liu summarized the main content of this sharing session and hoped that the participating teachers could have clearer goals and targets in their upcoming guidance work for all high school students.







Through this sharing session, all high school homeroom teachers had a clearer and deeper understanding of CAS education, and will certainly be more resourceful in supporting students in their future work and help them fly higher.
