Grade 9 Assembly:The Magic of Books and Communication
On November 19, the Grade 9 students of SHSID participated in the 9th grade assembly of the school year. Chloe from 11(5) and Arianna from 11(3) made an excellent presentation introducing students to their club, All Booked. All Booked is a club that aims to spread the culture of book reading throughout the school and beyond. They strive to make reading more eco-friendly and cheaper. They talked about how the club started and grew from a small organization to a five star service club.
All Booked has more than 300 book reports, 300 borrows, and 2000 people involved throughout not only SHSID but a lot of other schools too, further expanding their influence and spreading the culture of reading. Joining this club can give students a chance to practice leadership skills and communicate with children.
They also gave some professional advice to the ninth-graders about starting a club of their own. Some key takeaways from their presentation are that clubs should always originate from interests, be confident and always make your ideas happen. Listen to those around you for advice when problems occur, learn lessons from mistakes and repeat successful operations.
